Yankee Stadium: an accessible guide to every section

In order to assist in finding tickets for Yankees games, the following is an overview of the stadium, sections, and details about the location of each section in the stadium.

A seat map answers one question at a glance: where would I actually be sitting? This page answers the same question in words — for all 181 sections at Yankee Stadium. What the section number means, where it sits relative to home plate, how deep it is, where the entrance is, and which end of the row seat 1 is on.

How the ballpark is laid out

Yankee Stadium opened on 16 April 2009, across the street from the 1923 ballpark of the same name, which was demolished — anything written about that building describes a different place. The building carries no naming right and never has. Capacity is disputed: Wikipedia gives 46,537 for 2020 onward, Ballparks of Baseball gives 50,287, and no current figure was found on the club’s own site. Six ticketed groupings: the Legends and Champions Suites ring numbered 11–29 in front of the lower bowl, the Field Level 103–136, the Main Level 205–234, the Bleachers 201–204 and 235–239 sharing the 200s with it, the Terrace Level 305–334 and the Grandstand Level 405–434. The Audi Yankees Club is sold as a club rather than as numbered seats.

Section numbers increase from right field, up the first-base side, past home plate, down the third-base side and out to left field. Low numbers are the first-base and right-field side; high numbers are the third-base and left-field side. The club’s own netting statement says as much — the net runs “between Section 011 on the 1st base/right field side of the Stadium and continues to Section 029 on the 3rd base/left field side”. The same one-way sweep holds on every tier, and there is no odd/even split of the kind Petco Park and Dodger Stadium use.

The sections directly behind home plate are:

How the tiers stack

The home-plate block sits at 18–21B on the field-level ring, 118–121B at Field Level, 218–222 on the Main Level, 318–322 on the Terrace and 419–421 in the Grandstand. The Bleachers never reach home plate. They share the 200s with the Main Level but are a separate outfield tier running from left-centre to right-centre field, so distances are left blank for 201–204 and 235–239 rather than counted along a ring those sections are not part of. The Audi Yankees Club has no anchor either — it sits on the suite level between the 200 and 300 levels on the left-field line, so it is listed last here even though it is in the middle of the stack, and no distance is stated for it. Of the five anchors, the Field Level one is the softest: it is read off “Home Plate View” tags rather than stated outright, as the open questions below record.

Landmarks

How seat numbers work at this park

Every section page for this ballpark states the same rule: facing the field, seat 1 is on your right. Combined with the direction the section numbers run, that resolves to one rule for the whole park:

Seat 1 sits on the edge of the section facing the next LOWER section number, and seat numbers count up toward the next HIGHER section number.

Where seat 1 sits, by half of the ballpark
Where you areSeat 1 is… Higher seat numbers are…
The third base / left field half (sections numbered above the home-plate block)closest to home plate farther from home plate
Directly behind home plate on the first-base side of the sectiontoward the other side
The first base / right field half (sections numbered below the home-plate block)farthest from home plate closer to home plate

So a single rule of thumb will not cover the whole park. Each section entry below spells out which end of its row seat 1 is on.

Rows

Rows are numbered everywhere at this park, starting at row 1 at the front and counting back. Depth varies by tier: the field-level ring runs 1–9, Field Level sections to about 1–21, the Main Level to 1–22, the Bleachers 1–24, the Terrace 1–10 and the Grandstand 1–14, with the Audi Yankees Club at 1–3. The accessible row carries a letter suffix — 8WC on the Terrace and in the Delta Sky360 sections, 21W in the Bleachers — and on the Terrace a standing-room row 9SR sits behind it and doubles as the entrance. Entry is at the back of the section on most tiers, at row 10 in section 103, row 18 in 104 and row 24 in 201, but the Grandstand is entered near the front, at row 2.

Accessibility landmarks

The club states that wheelchair-accessible and designated aisle-transfer seats are sold at various price points and locations throughout the stadium, but its guide does not list the sections, directing guests to Disabled Services instead. Sixteen public elevators and two indoor ramps serve the building. The nearest thing to a published list of accessible sections is the club’s own list of accessible sections fitted with electrical outlets.

A complete section-and-row inventory of accessible seating was not available in text form when this was compiled, so the list above is a set of landmarks rather than a complete map. The ticket office can confirm specific seats.

That sentence was returned from the sibling pages 422, 423, 425 and 426 in this batch; the 424 fetch returned the shared Grandstand block ("sections behind home plate tend to receive the most shade") rather than re-quoting it, so for 424 the third-base placement rests on the shared review being the same block, not on a quote lifted from this page.1-142

In fact, the grandstand seats behind home plate (Sections 419-421)". Section 418 itself is not separately placed beyond the Grandstand Infield zone tag.1-142
419Grandstand Level (405–434)Zone label on page: "Grandstand Infield"Home Plate View" tag. "Grandstand Infield seating is an inexpensive way to catch a Yankees game. In fact, the grandstand seats behind home plate (Sections 419-421)". Also "desirable view from behind home plate". This is the first section in the batch that the source explicitly places behind home plate.1-142
420AGrandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand InfieldThe shared Grandstand Infield expert review on the page places it by range "the grandstand seats behind home plate (Sections 419-421) are one of only two seating areas where you can get a home plate view without paying for club seats." The section-specific Section Insight "Home Plate View" and the Seating Note "For baseball games, desirable view from behind home plate" corroborate that placement for this section.1-142

422Grandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand InfieldIt falls between the two ranges the shared Grandstand Infield expert review does name - "the grandstand seats behind home plate (Sections 419-421)" and "For shade, opt for seats on the third base side (e.g.: 423-426)" - and is named in NEITHER. The page nonetheless carries the phrase "home plate view" in its expert review block. Treat 422 as unplaced by the source.1-142
423Grandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand InfieldPlaced by the shared Grandstand Infield "For shade, opt for seats on the third base side (e.g.: 423-426) or in the upper half (rows 8 and up)." 423 is the low end of that named third-base-side range. Confirmed on two separate fetches of this page.1-142
424Grandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand InfieldPlaced only by the shared Grandstand Infield expert review's range sentence, "For shade, opt for seats on the third base side (e.g.: 423-426) or in the upper half (rows 8 and up)." That sentence was returned from the sibling pages 422, 423, 425 and 426 in this batch; the 424 fetch returned the shared Grandstand block ("sections behind home plate tend to receive the most shade") rather than re-quoting it, so for 424 the third-base placement rests on the shared review being the same block, not on a quote lifted from this page.1-142
425Grandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand InfieldPlaced by the shared Grandstand Infield "opt for seats on the third base side (e.g.: 423-426)".1-142
426Grandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand InfieldPlaced by the shared Grandstand Infield "opt for seats on the third base side (e.g.: 423-426)". 426 is the high end of that named range and the last Grandstand INFIELD section in this batch - 427 onward are categorised Grandstand Outfield.1-142
427Grandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand OutfieldNOT STATED. The page gives no sentence placing Section 427 in the ballpark. Its category changes from Grandstand Infield to "Grandstand Outfield (Baseball)" here, which is itself the finding: on the third base / left field side the source's own infield-to-outfield boundary falls BETWEEN 426 and 427. The shared outfield review mentions "outfield seating, especially in RF, is in the sun" but that is a right-field remark and does not place 427.1-142
428Grandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand OutfieldNOT STATED for this section individually. Do not infer a placement from that sentence.1-142

432AGrandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand OutfieldNOT STATED.1-142
432BGrandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand OutfieldNOT STATED for this section individually. The only locating language returned was the shared outfield review's "Outfield seating, especially in RF, is in the sun" - a level-wide right-field remark that does not place 432B.1-142
433Grandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand OutfieldNOT STATED. The page does not say whether Section 433 is behind home plate, in foul territory or in the outfield; only its category is given.1-142
434AGrandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand OutfieldNOT STATED for baseball. The only placement the page offers is a CONCERT placement "434A is behind the stage or to the side of the stage for most concerts. This may restrict or limit your view of the performance." That is a concert-configuration statement and says nothing about where the section sits relative to the baseball diamond.1-142
434BGrandstand Level (405–434)Grandstand OutfieldNOT STATED for baseball. Only the concert placement is given "434B is behind the stage or to the side of the stage for most concerts. This may restrict or limit your view of the performance."1-142
Audi ClubAudi Yankees Club (no numbered sections)Audi Club"The Audi Club is located on the suite level between the 200 and 300 level on the left field line and it is accessible from level 2." Expert review adds it is a "Suite-Level Indoor Club" with "fully enclosed, climate-controlled seating" located in left field, offering "Indoor seating, dining area, and lounge space with field views" and "Full Bar & In-Seat Service", and that the space functions "more like a restaurant and lounge than a traditional seating section", with fans able to move freely throughout the club including dining and bar areas.1-3" (Section Insights repeats "Rows 1-3")UNKNOWN

Sources, confidence and caveats

Rows, entrance rows, zones and seat-numbering direction come from RateYourSeats section pages, one page fetched per section, with A View From My Seat as a fallback. Orientation, dugouts, bullpens, capacity and accessibility come from the team's own ballpark and disability access guides, cross-checked against independent ballpark guides. Every row of the section CSV carries its own confidence rating. Of 181 sections, 106 are high confidence, 72 medium and 3 low.
